Ukulele tuning
Linear Low G (G-C-E-A)
Low G keeps the standard G-C-E-A notes but tunes the fourth string an octave lower, so it really is the lowest. The tuning goes from reentrant to linear, with the strings ordered low to high.

Strings and frequencies
| String | Note | Hz |
|---|---|---|
| String 1 | A4 | 440.00 Hz |
| String 2 | E4 | 329.63 Hz |
| String 3 | C4 | 261.63 Hz |

How it sounds
It gains low range and sounds fuller and more guitar-like, at the cost of some of the jumpy brightness so typical of the ukulele. It is the preferred option for solos and fingerstyle, where the extra register helps.
Styles and genres
Recommended string gauges
You need a dedicated Low G fourth string (thicker or wound); the standard high G will not tune down an octave. Many sets are sold in a Low G version.
Tuning tip
Coming from reentrant, your strums will sound different: the new low G adds weight to the chord. Use it for picking and bass lines that would not fit on the ukulele before.
