Ukulele tuning
Low A (A-D-F#-B)
Low A is to D tuning what Low G is to standard: it keeps the notes A-D-F#-B but drops the fourth string (A) an octave, making it the lowest and turning the tuning linear.

Strings and frequencies
| String | Note | Hz |
|---|---|---|
| String 1 | B4 | 493.88 Hz |
| String 2 | F#4 | 369.99 Hz |
| String 3 | D4 | 293.66 Hz |

How it sounds
It combines the brightness of D tuning with an added low register, for a full, linear sound. It is a niche option, interesting for anyone playing in D who misses a real low string.

Recommended string gauges
As with Low G, you need a dedicated fourth string that can drop an octave without going loose; the standard high A will not do. Check the tension with the tuner after the change.
Tuning tip
It is an uncommon tuning: if you play with other ukulele players, let them know, because your chords will have a low end theirs in reentrant do not, which can show in the ensemble.
